Exercises with the Ironmaster Dip Handles

IronmasterUK Chest

Dips – chest version

Adjust the height of the dip handles and get into the starting position with your body at arm’s length above the bars. Lower yourself while leaning your torso forward around 30 degrees and slightly flaring out your elbows, feeling a stretch in the chest. Press up through your chest to return to the starting position.

IronmasterUK Triceps

Dips – triceps version

To focus on your triceps, perform a regular dip (above), but keep your body upright and your elbows close to your body. This is a great bodyweight option to grow your triceps.

IronmasterUK Abdominals

Leg or knee raises

Work your core by starting with the dip handles in the reversed position, over the Super Bench seat pad. Angle the bench as required, lay back with your arms above your head holding onto the dip handles. Bring your knees towards your torso with either your legs bent or straight. Return to the starting position, controlling the descent, and repeat.

  2. The attachment itself is a great addition to the Iron master attachment series. The item it’s quite sturdy and it doesn’t wobble as much I thought it would. The padding on the handles could have been a little bit more reinforced, but it’s not much of a big deal. Overall, it’s a great workout product to start building your upper body.

  3. I bought this dip attachment along with Superbench as a bundle. The attachment came in separate box and good condition. Assembly was simple with 4 hex screws and provided allen wrench. The handles are bit tall for me even mounted at the lowest position and my legs kept hitting the bench adjustment arc until I found that it’s more comfortable if the handles installed 180 degrees on the backrest side and the seat pad can be used as step (not suggesting this method to someone with heavyweight). Thanks to Superbench with this option, I am loving dips I haven’t done before in my 30 years of exercising.

  4. I love it. If you have the Iron Master Super Bench, this is a must. I was concerned that it would be too narrow or too wide. I purchased it for my son and he loved it. I used his and determined instantly that I needed one for my Super Bench. The thing is sturdy.

  5. LIke all things IronMaster, this will last you a lifetime. Secure and strong and there is little movement. If there is a negative: the semi-circular positioning arc might hit legs when using this. How to solve? Tip the bench to a slight slant (it has 11 positions). So having it tipped slightly when doing dips will place the user away from the steel arc comfortably. The degree of tilt on the dip bars does not bother me (your mileage may vary). The Superbench by IM can be laid flat with this bar in place. What is most impressive is that the dip bar can be turned forward, so the handles are toward the cushion side of the bench, ideal for abdominal work, leg raises (for hip flexors), etc. I can even do dumbbell hamstring curls by using a 45 -degree bench, being on my stomach (prone), keeping myself in place with the handles facing upward-forward, and gripping a standing floor dumbbell with my feet for the curls. Your imagination is the only limit. Recommended.

  6. The whole Ironmaster equipment line is the best. Easily 10 stars if applicable. I’m so glad I bought this & the other accessories.

  7. Very convenient for small spaces. Sure the bench can wobble if you’re off balance, but that’s your problem to fix. If the bench tilts all the way over your feet are still close enough to the ground to catch it. That has not happened to me BTW.

  8. Another great product I purchased from Ironmaster. This attaches to the Ironmaster bench I purchased for my son. My son is 16 yrs. old, and 6’1″ and loves to workout. This attachment is easy to install and my son loves it. Will be purchasing more attachments soon. Highly recommend!

  9. The Ironmaster super bench is a great piece of hardware and the dip attachment furthers its range of exercises. The build quality of this piece is right up there with the rest of Ironmaster’s set. Strong and durable with quality welds. The bench, even with it’s small footprint, is very stable while doing dips. If there is a flaw with this item, it would be the lack of padding on the grips. It doesn’t bother me but some folks might appreciate some padding there. Dips are a great exercise for isolating your triceps. Get this attachment, you won’t be disappointed.

  10. I got this as part of a package deal. Originally, I didn’t plan on using it as I questioned the stability. That said, when I rotated dips back into my routine – I tried it out and was surprised at how well it works. First: nothing will be as stable as a gym dip bar/machine. However, this is pretty good. This is pretty stable doing bodyweight dips. It moves fractionally, but never enough to make me doubt it. Second: weighted dips work and are also stable. I use a backpack so that my posture remains cleanly vertical to focus on the triceps, and don’t get any additional instability. I wish there was a quick release locking mechanism, but that’s a criticism of the superbench. Overall, I’m surprised that this works as well as it does.

  11. There are a few things that would make this attachment better. The first thing is if the handles were just a little longer. The second thing would be the ability to change the width of the handles. But they aren’t a big enough gripe to give it 4 stars – they’re just ways to improve this attachment. But overall it functions for my purposes and I use it at least once week. There are 3 height adjustments that are basically worthless since they’re only about an inch or 2 apart. But I’d recommend this to anyone who’s looking for a simple, effective dip bar.

  13. In response to Stephen’s review above, I’d suggest two things. Shorten the chain on your dipping belt by twisting it before latching the open end, or turn the dipping attachment around 180 degrees and use it the ‘wrong’ way round, but lift the opposite end of the bench about 6 inches off the floor to make the bars level with the ground – which gives complete free access to use any amount of extra weight between your waist.

  14. Great add-on for the bench. Comfy handles and good height adjustment. Very easy to get in and out of the bench. Great to use for leg raises as well. I am very impressed with all the IronMaster kit, it is all very well made and feels safe and sturdy.

  15. The only minor issue is with the weights hanging from your waist hitting the bench angle stop bar, if it was taller this would be prevented.
