Exercise with the Ironmaster Calf Block
Standing Calf Raise
Isolate the calf muscles with this exercise. Using either the IM2000 Smith machine or a barbell, get into position with the bar across your shoulders, and the balls of your feet on the calf block with your heels extending off it.
You can also do standing calf raises with dumbbells held by your sides. Raise your heels by flexing your calves and extending your ankles as high as possible. Your knees should be kept in position. Return to the starting position slowly and repeat.
Seated Calf Raise
Sit on the flat Super Bench either under the IM2000 bar or with a barbell across your lower thighs (about target 10 cm above your knees) or a dumbbell resting on each thigh. Position your feet on the calf block as per the standing calf raise and raise up on your toes as high as possible, squeezing your calf muscles. Slowly return to the starting position and repeat.
Donkey Calf Raise
This is a great calf exercise which you can do with the IM2000 while bent over with the padded bar across your tailbone area, or with a training partner sitting on your lower back. Complete the donkey calf raise movement as per the standing calf raise, returning to the starting position and repeating.
