Changing the weights is so simple you can do it with one hand. Most people who own our adjustable dumbbells say they can change the weights on each dumbbell in under 15 seconds. An incredible product. Extremely well-made, weight feels even in your hand and handle has good knurl. Feels like a normal dumbbell with VERY minimal shifting of plates during reps.
Weight changes are a little bit slower than some of the other players in this space (Bowflex, Powerblocka), but I think it is worth it for the quality of construction. Also a huge bonus that you can easily buy additional weight of you ever want to.
Lastly, these dumbbells pair perfectly with the kettlebell handles and other bars (straight bar/EZ bar) to create a great starting point for a home gym.
A really well-made and adaptable product. Huge fan.

Best Adjustable Free Weight Dumbbells. I live in a small apartment so space is important. I already had to give up my bench press so I wanted to make sure I at least had solid adjustable free weights. At first, like many, I looked at Bowflex. Every time I went to a store to check them out, they were broken and a mess. I read online how they were made of cheap plastic and how awkward they were to do certain types of exercises because they aren’t shapped like regular dumbbells. I then looked into Powerblock and I was almost sold but then realized Powerblocks were also oddly shaped and hindered some forms of exercise due to the shape. I finally stumbled upon Ironmaster through some random fitness forums. They were made of high quality steel and look and act like regular dumbbells. I ended up buying these despite the higher price tag because I knew it was an investment in my workout. I’ve been using these for several months now. PROS: High quality steel Feels safe to use Easy to take weights on and off Act as regular dumbbells so no compromises CONS: Every so often, spinning on a weight plate seems difficult as if the threading isn’t catching it right…not sure why I don’t mind it, but it does take several seconds to spin on and off weights I would give this product a perfect score if it weren’t for the occasional issue of spinning on the weight plate and it not locking (just keeps spinning). It doesn’t happen often but even when the plates are all facing the same way and everything looks fine, some plates just don’t seem to lock right. I’ve resolved this issue by just switching it out with another plate which is suppose to be the same thing…but then it works.

Best Adjustable I’ve Found
I’m a personal trainer, and after a lot of research, I went with Ironmaster as the dumbbells I bring to people’s homes. I really love these. I’ve had experience with some of the other big names, but these are definitely higher quality. Mine take a bit of abuse with all the transportation, and don’t have any wear to show for it. After all, it’s all solid metal–no plastic or anything flimsy to break. The only thing is some minor chipping to the paint on the weight plates, but it’s only cosmetic and I could always spray paint it if I cared (I don’t).
One thing that I’ve noticed–and all my clients have commented on–is how comfortable the grip is. I think it might be the most comfortable I’ve used. Some dumbbells have too narrow a grip and it puts a lot of excess pressure on your hand. The texture is great too, there’s enough for grip but not so much that it chews up your hand. The locking mechanism is SOLID. No way those plates are falling off once you lock them in. It’s basically identical to a regular dumbbell once the locking screws are in–no rattle or anything.

Solid quality, and convenient space aver for the office. I keep one of these in the office and one at home. At office it works well as a substitute to coffee and sugar. If I get drowsy from being a desk jockey, I just push a few reps. Excellent solid quality. IMO: It costs a pretty penny, but I believe in only having to buy something once, and this fits the bill. Very quick changing of weights. Many of my office mates stop by my office to use it.

Still the best of the lot. As I am rehabbing from shoulder surgery, I decided to purchase the 45 lb Ironmaster set. I have had the heavier set in the past but am always looking to try new things, so they were sold a couple years ago. I regret doing that as my workouts have evolved such that 90% of my workouts involve dumbbells or body weight work. So, I knew I needed something that would last a very long time and I really dislike any sloppy feeling with dumbbells (ie I want it to feel like one solid piece). Having been through every type of adjustable dumbbell over the past 15 years, I knew the ironmasters were the only adjustable that would fit my criteria. There is no difference with this set versus the 75 ib set except the stand is not included, there is (obviously) less weight, and they are cheaper. For those that don’t need more than 45 lbs, these fit the bill. For those like myself that will be wanting more weight, these can be expanded to 75 lbs, 120 lbs, or even beyond that. The only other dumbbell I would ever consider are the Powerblocks, but having owned a few pairs of them, I knew the one thing that always turned me off was the ever shifting of the plates when doing certain lifts. For some this is a non issue. Those looking for an adjustable dumbbell that can essentially be made into a solid dumbbell of any weight will find the answer with the Ironmasters.

This truly exceeded my expectations and well worth the expense to me. The quality is outstanding and time for plate changes just a brief pause in whatever you’re doing with them. I can’t imagine anyone with a drive to exercise having an issue with a quarter turn and quick switch to have something durable of quality that can’t fail or wear out over time ?
As a followup to the above… I’ve recently added Ironmaster’s 1.5″ fat grip adapters to the set and I love them. I also added Ironmaster’s quick-lock Kettlebell and loving it too : )

These seem like a great place to start.
Okay I haven’t tried any other adjustable weights except trusty old spin locks so I cannot compare the time it takes to change the weight. However I will say that I am already able to change these things really quickly and with time this should only improve. The 2.5 increment is also a superb feature and it is so nice to be able to add or subtract the weight with what is effectively a turn of a knob. Everything about the weights is well made and designed and they feel really comfortable. I have been eying up ironmaster weights for some time but the $600+ price tag of the 75 lbs dumbbells was a hard pill to swallow. These weights can also be expanded up to 75 lbs and beyond so for me this was the perfect way into getting a really great set up.

These dumbbells work great.
Not as fast or easy to change weight as others, but they feel just like a standard fixed weight dumbbell. Glad I bought these over the other choices.

Even though I couldn’t try out the Ironmasters before purchasing them I am glad I went with them. I did my research (youtube reviews) and also tried out the Powerblocks and Bowflex adjustable dumbbells at a local sports store. Even though I couldn’t try out the Ironmasters before purchasing them I am glad I went with them. I agree these are not quick enough to do drop sets with. I haven’t had much practice with them(couple weeks) and it takes me about 25-30 seconds to change both dumbbells to a different weight, but that is fast enough for me between exercises since I am OK with a 30 second rest period. I have had the traditional screw on type adjustable before and they always came loose very quickly. I have not had these come loose on me once, same as many other people have stated. If they did begin to rattle they won’t fall apart unless the threads line up with the slot(think of a skeleton key). I can tell these will last forever, which I doubted with the Powerblocks and Bowflex dumbbells which had a cheap feel to them. Buy these if you care more about quality and less about speed. If you want speed I would recommend buying a set of multiple dumbbells, although pricier. Those would be worth your money versus going with Powerblocks or Bowflex dumbbells.

Great dumbbells. I previously have owned the Bowflex adjustable. I liked them to a point but they really started to give me a headache. Longer, more awkward – harder to use. My sister has them now. These are fantastic, they actually look and feel like Dumbbells and they’re easy to add and take off the weights. If you’re looking to get big muscles they might not be for you but for the rest of us, perfect.

I’ve been using weights for almost 40 years and got bored with the laborious process of changing weights. I went for the 34 kg set and these dumbbells are great. Easy and quick to change up or down and good grips. Importantly they are compact enough so as to interfere with few if any of the typical dumbbell exercises (unlike other adjustable dumbbells). Whether you’re looking for heavy loading with decent breaks between sets or you’re looking for fast progression between different exercises, these dumbbells do the job perfectly. They are also very compact so if your job means you travel around a lot, you can easily take these with you and forego the muscular agony after a long layoff. Best £500+ I ever spent. I can’t recommend these enough and the way things are progressing I’ll be buying more plates shortly.

Impressive!
These adjustable dumbbells have been recommended to me so many times that I decided it was time to get a pair. This is easily one of the best home gym products I’ve ever purchased. These dumbbells are so sturdy and incredibly well-made, and take up a fraction of the space a traditional rack would take up. The swapping between weights takes a bit of getting used to but once you get it down it’s quite quick. For the price, these are a great deal. You can tell they’re basically going to last forever (with some basic wear and tear).
Both myself and my husband are very pleased, and both of us use them. Bravo!

I’ve used the rest, and these are the best. Beautiful dumbbells with the look and feel of real dumbbells. Quality, heavy-duty build. While not as fast as competitors for weight changes, they are still quite fast. Like I said, I’ve used them all, and these are my favorite, hands down. If you can get a pair of these for your home gym, do it. Also less expensive than competitors in the high-end adjustable dumbbell market.

Great quality!
The quality of these dumbbells are great. Very solid, and I like that there are no plastic parts. I moved over from Powerblocks, which served me well for a really long time, but the plastic parts begin to show wear and tear. Switching the weights is noticeably slower, but I would gladly trade the speed for the versatility and durability! So ultimately it depends on what you prioritize in your dumbbells, but these are a pretty solid choice.

I’m extremely pleased with my Ironmaster purchase. These replace a set of far lesser 45 ld weights. I considered several alternatives and settled on these thanks to positive reviews and a desire for an adjustable dumbbell that performed during the work out like a non adjustable weight. This is definitely the ticket. Getting the hang of quickly changing the weights happened after a couple of workouts and I now enjoy a set of 75 lb adjustable dumb bells that work like a full set of non adjustable weights. I don’t believe there is a better system on the market.

I researched and researched adjustable dumbbells during the pandemic. A few things stand out with these dumbbells. #1 durability: no plastic anywhere, extremely simple yet effective design. #2 Lifetime warranty. #3 Feel of real dumbbells, only get larger when you add more weight. Flat sides to rest on knees. #4 expandable in the future. #5 quicker than spin lock dumbbells. To be clear not as fast as Bowflex or Powerblocks. These dumbbells are rock solid with a very old school feel to them along with being a perfect size/balance for most all exercises. Taking an extra couple of seconds to reload the poundage is more than worth using the more popular twist handle adjustables given how much plastic in the mechanisms. I mean I’m not like throwing weights around on the regular but eventually if you are really working hard enough one will crash to the floor eventually and these will NOT break (maybe the floor…haha). Willing to take the chance with another $600 plus set…not for me. Also, luv the expansion options what else could you ask for..??
