Hybrid Dual Width Bench Pad

We have had some requests to offer a bench pad that is wider than our standard. With our dual-width design, in the flat position, you can lie down with your head at the wide end and have a 12.25″ wide pad at your shoulders, or lie the other way and have a 10.25″ width. The reason for the dual width is some lifters prefer to have wider support under the shoulders when bench pressing, but some like having more range of motion. We have used the same width for our pads for generations to give the most versatility for all users and sizes, but this new design goes even further. Some moves like lying dumbbell rows are more difficult with an extra-wide pad and not everyone wants a wider pad all the time so the upper section has our standard width. This hybrid design gives the best of both worlds.

We also used a special higher grip vinyl to help keep you planted on the pad when things get heavy and sweaty. It has a carbon fiber pattern and we think it looks super cool. It is a tough vinyl, not a rubber material, but you can definitely feel the difference in grip. We left off the embroidered logo on this pad with grip performance in mind. The Hybrid pad uses our higher density foam like on the PRO bench.

This is sold as an accessory since not everyone needs this more expensive pad. Simply unbolt your original pad and bolt this one on. Fits the original Super Bench and Super Bench PRO model Ironmaster benches. (We can’t swap out the pads on new bench orders – this is only sold separately) Upgrade your workouts!

  1. I love it. I have both the Super Bench and the Super Bench Pro. Put it on the Pro. Material is great, look and feel are 10/10, texture helps keep you in place, no more logo on the bench itself, and most importantly, the added width makes it a lot easier to keep your shoulders packed and use leg drive on pressing movements. I have really broad shoulders, and can’t ever get enough leverage on normal benches because my shoulders hang well outside of them when I’m lying flat. This fixes all that, and you can easily rotate the bench if you want to use the normal width again. Highly recommended.

  2. Great versatile pad!
I think this is not an option it’s a must upgrade for all Iron master bench owners.
I like the stiffness of the pad as well(I would’ve loved it more if it had more stiffness but it’s still much better than the original.)
Installation was very easy I even did it with just using my fingers. I use old pad when I do tricep workout on the floor and it is great!

  3. This is a huge improvement. I feel much better planted while bench pressing with heavy weights. The broader bench and non slip material make workouts much easier.

  4. i second the review that this item isn’t even a question. I installed it today and love it already!

You can really dig your shoulders into the wider end of the bench and get a better lift. Plus, the narrower end is great for exercises like the hanging lat pull. Can’t go wrong here!

  5. Big difference from the original. It does not look much on paper, only couple of inches wider. But if you have wide shoulders it makes a world of difference in benching. You have plenty of room to dig in your shoulders. Even for the leg extension attachment you can feel the difference. This should be the standard for the bench pro.

  6. I just received/installed the new hybrid bench pad on my SuperBench (not the Pro). I think it’s awesome. Not only does it have the benefit described about using either end, but it’s better in every way. It takes off about 1/2 which doesn’t seem like much, but it feels a lot more stable with my feet firmly planted on the floor. The wider bench also makes my hips feel a lot more stable which helps when lifting heavy dumbbells. The new firm commercial quality feel is great too. I’m very impressed and I think it’s worth every penny. I know it’s cliche, but this is literally the 2nd review I’ve written for a purchase in probably 5 years. I’m impressed with the new design they came out with. Good stuff Ironmaster. Keep it up.

  8. I agree with all the previous reviews. This should be standard on the Rro model. I also use the removed pad for floor work on my IM 2000. The new pad is perfect for all uses. My wife loves it also. Love the wider back, safer, more stable. Great firmness and construction. Awesome covering. Fit quick and perfect. I love the fact I can use the removed pad for other floor work as well. You need this for the Pro model to appreciate all its benefits

  9. I have average width shoulders, but always felt that I could use a couple of extra inches on my Super bench PRO. Assembly was easy and the new pad feels great when I bench press. As an added bonus, I was able get a double upgrade by replacing the built-in bench pad on my older IM950 with the original PRO pad.

  10. I stapled two velcro strips the full length of the back of the pad, and two strips to the discontinued Ironmaster Step Bench and now have an equivalent of the Super Pro Bench with the advantage of being able change and reverse the pad in all of the incline positions as well as the flat position. Works great. I also retrofitted the step bench and drilled keyholes and L-pins in the top end so as to accommodate all of the Ironmaster bench attachments.

  11. Great feel and fit!
Easy to install. This pad has better grip and feel than the standard pad. Now I just have to figure out what to make out of the old pad.

  12. Nice bench pad
So after having my original Ironmaster bench for 15+ years my puppy chewed the end of the pad up. I was less then pleased with this. After seeing this pad online it seemed like a good upgrade and solved the problem of the pad being eaten. Good quality, and clean. After 15+ years my Quicklock dumbells, Bench and quicklock kettlebells are still as good as the day I bought them.

  13. Almost perfect
This pad is almost perfect. It’s certainly an upgrade to the standard pad — and a necessary one if you plan on flat benching semi-heavy weights. But “grippy” it is not. It’s marginally more grippy than the standard pad and definitely not grippy enough to feel “locked” in like you would on leading flat benches (e.g. Rep, Rogue). If they had used a material like Rep does, it would be absolutely perfect. As is, I had to buy a $20 pad from One Strong Herd so I could use this as a flat bench as it was intended without feeling like I was on a slippy commercial bench.

Other than that this is great. I love that it’s tapered. It provides the best of both worlds. The narrow side is way better than a standard 12″ pad for getting good stretches in DB work, and the 12″ side is the perfect width for supporting back/shoulders while flat benching heavy. While it’s a pity I had to spend over $100 (this plus the pad) to turn the Super Pro into what it should be out of the box, it’s still a tremendous value overall if you’re buying even a few attachments.

  14. I love the feel of the bench and how sturdy it is to do stepups on it. The lower height also help out my short wife when she is training. When doing bench dips, I use either the wide or narrow version to do dips and it works perfectly. I also put my quicklock dumbbells on the bench between sets and it hasn’t messed it up or left indentations. I also saved my original bench pad as it works perfectly for low pulley rows on my IM2000. I highly recommend.
